These were caused when the Shawnee Indians rubbed his face against an oak tree for crying while he was being held by them as a captive in August 1792. Elexious owned two Negro slaves. One, a woman, was named Mariah. Nearly all the Musicks now living (1977) in West Virginia, Tennesee, Western and SW VA are descendants of Elexious. - The Musick Book by Egbert S.
