Master Sgt. Preston Reece Morrison, son of Bert W. and Ethel (Taylor) Morrison of Peggs, Oklahoma, retired from the United States Air Force in June of 1967 after serving 23 years.   P. Reece Morrison graduated from Salina High School in 1939, attended Chillocothe Business College in Chillocothe, Missouri and was employed a OOW near Pryor, Oklahoma for one year as a field clerk by the Dupont Company.   He enlisted in the USAF in October of 1942 and was trained in various locations in Texas and Oklahoma. In May of 1944 he was sent to England with the 8th Air Force and was a top turrett gunner and crew chief on B-17 Bombers. Sgt. Reece Morrison was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroic and meritorious achievement, the Air Force Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star, the Presidential Citation, the Purple Heart, the European Theater of War medal with three stars and the Good Conduct Medal during his missions over enemy occupied territories.   Reece returned to the United States in January of 1945 and was sent to Vance AFB near Enid, Oklahoma where he lived with his wife, Cordelia (Phelan) Morrison, and baby daughter, Naomi Rita Mae Morrison, until he received his discharge from the service in September of 1945. He then returned to Peggs, Oklahoma where he farmed and taught one term of school.   M/Sgt. Morrison re-enlisted in the Air Force in February of 1948 and was stationed near Panama City, Florida, at Tyndall AFB until 1951. He was sent to Gary AFB at San Marcos, Texas in 1951, then to Okinawa for 2 years. In 1954 he was sent to Fairchild AFB at Spokane, Washington, then Abilene at Dyess AFB, and Labrador, Greenland for 18 months, then back to Abilene, Texas.   In February of 1966, he transferred to Lackland AFB near San Marcos, Texas where he served as M/Sgt. of the 3700 Air Force Police Squadron until his retirement.   Other medals he was awarded during his years in service included the Korean Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal, the National Defense medal, the Air Force Commendation medal, the Victory Campaign and Service medal and the American Service medal.   After retiring, M/Sgt Morrison moved to San Marcos, Tx, to live with his three sons, Reece Jr., Bert Lynn, and Curt Dee. His daughter, Naomi Rita Mae Schulle was living in Houston, Tx, with her husband and 2 children. His wife, Cordelia (Phelan) Morrison, had died on December 12, 1965.   M/Sgt. Morrison was employed by the Texas Department of Fish and Wild Life until 1977, when he retired from that service. He became self employed in real estate holdings of various types and continued to live in San Marcos, Tx, until his death on June 6, 1983.   At his death, he was survived by three sons, Reece E., Bert L., and Curt D. Morrison of San Marcos, Tx, and one daughter, Naomi Rita Mae Morrison Carpenter Jones of Dallas, Tx., three grandsons, Preston R. Morrison II, Jonathan Morrison, and Henry Andrew Schulle II and four grand daughters, Laura E. Schulle, Rheetah Naomi Carpenter, Laura Morrison and Jennifer Morrison.
