I have searched all of the counties around Hanilton Co. Ohio and the
counties around Wheeling WV for the marriages of William Hatfield and
have had no success. The family lore says that WIlliam was a successful
businessman in the Wheeling WV area. William posted a bond for some
reason (Unknown) and had to forfit the bond which wiped him out and he
set sail down the Ohio river. His first wife died on the trip or
because of her health they landed at Newport Ohio and she died there.
Then WIlliam supposedly remarried. Nicholas Hatfield of Indianapolis
has made several trips to the Cincinnati area in attempts to find
information on either or both of these marriages.
