According to family history, Susan Graham was orphaned at an early age
when her parents were killed by indians. In the 1880 census she is found
living with Alexander Curry who is listed as her "uncle". We believe this
might, in fact, be her grandfather, but so far have not been able to
confirm this. Also living with Alexander Curry was a sister to Susan by
the name of Millie who was two years older than Susan. Of note, a
daughter of Alexander Curry also lived with him. Her name was Narcissus
Graham. Was she also married to a Graham who had died? Or were the other
Graham children actually living with her? Susan's father is listed as Jim
Graham on her death certificate. Her mother's maiden name is listed only
as Curry. Susan was called "Big Mama" by the only two children she knew
before she died. She was called Wissy by many who knew her.
