I have been doing some searching for the Hatfields on Ancestry.com.
Francis and Mary Hatfield
are living in Putnam County, Ohio on the 1870 Census. Henry and Flora
are living in Macon County,
Missouri on the 1870 Census. They were probably living there in 1871, as
their son Robert was
born in 1871 in Missouri, according to the census. Then they moved to
Iowa where James, Samuel
and Adrain were born. Then the Henry Hatfield family moved to Texas.
They are living in Lamar County,
Texas on the 1880 Census. John K. "Kit" was born in Texas. Henry moved
his family around alot.
If Francis and Mary moved from Ohio, chances are it would have been to
Missouri. I believe that
Martin and Henry and their families were the only Hatfields to live in
southeast Kansas. In 1900,
John Hatfield is living in Gratiot County, Michigan with his wife
Myrtle/Mertel and son Forest. They
are also living there in 1910. Forest , his wife and daughter Ida are
living with John and Myrtle.
In 1920 John, Myrtle and their grandaughter are living in Shiawassee
County, Michigan. I couldn't
find John on the 1930 census.
Samuel Ryan Hatfield was living in Coffee County, Tennessee on the 1910
Federal Census. His
wife is Lena. Then in 1920 he is living as a boarder in Hamilton County,
Tennessee. He probably
died in Tennessee. Pittsburg, Tennessee is in the county south of Coffee
County.
I found the marriage date for Henry C. Hatfield and Flora E. Townsend on
the Illinois Marriages
Index, 1851-1900 on Ancestry.com. They were married 23 Feb 1870 in
Tazewell County, Illinois.
Adrain Hatfield is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg. His
tombstone transcription says:
Enlisted in 20th KS May 12, 1898 Wounded in Manila Mar 27 Died
in hospital at Manila Mar 28, 1899
Buried Feb 22, 1900, aged 21 yrs 11 days. I believe that Adrain is the
son of Henry and Florence Hatfield.
On the 1880 Census,his age was probably written as a fancy 2. There were
a couple different small articles
on his death and burial. One article from the 4 November 1899
Pittsburg Daily Headlight read as follows:
A. E. Hatfield's home, of Company I, was in Pittsburg, but he enlisted
from Topeka. He was born in Athens,
Ohio, 21 years ago. He died of wounds March 30th.
One article referred to Adrain's parents as living in Nelson, Kansas, but
no mention was given to the names
of his parents. Nelson was located a few miles northwest of Pittsburg in
Washington Township in Crawford
County. That little town no longer exists.
The other Hatfields that are listed in the Crawford County Tombstone
Transcriptions Index are: Charles,
G. M., Helen Gould, Lavon Frances, Louis Franklin, Marvin J., Nancy,
Nettie, and William.
