So this is the cemetery of Ephraim Hatfield, who was the third son of Joseph and Martha Evans Hatfield. Ephraim bought this land on Lover's Lane from Ferrell Evans in the 1840s, or at least he bought some land from Ferrell Evans - he may have already been living there. This is the stone of his wife, Phoebe Esther Vance, who was the sister of Devil Anse's mother, Nancy Vance
