I do have records from the Vance family church records
that say that "William's son-in-law, Samuel, who was the son of Elias
Hatfield, joined their church". He and his wife, Rebecca Vance Hatfield,
also left the church with the Vance family when they had a dispute with
Preacher Brownfield. They also had land exchanges in Ohio where the Vance
family moved when they left the church.
Samuel and Rebecca used family names for most of their children. Her
parents were William and Rebecca Vance (Rebecca's maternal grandparents
were John and Rachel Minton), Elias had a Sarah Freeman in his family.
Samuel HATFIELD, b. 6 Dec 1797 in Uniontown, Fayette, PA. m. abt 1820 to
Rebecca VANCE (Parents were William VANCE and Rachel MINTON). They had
eleven children: Sarah Jane 1821, Lydia Ann 1822, Rachel 1824, Freeman
Lindsay 1826. William 1827, Elias 1831, Lucinda (my great-grandmother)
1834, Samuel 1834, Minton 1836, Rebecca 1840, and Mary Elizabeth 1843.
Both d in Fayette, PA. Rebecca 1863 and Samuel 1877. Any information
regarding their parents, siblings, and children would be appreciated.
