- JOHNSON "JOHNSE" HATFIELD -

Jan. 6, 1862 - April 19, 1922.

Photo thanks to Norma Lugar*

Per the Reverend Shirley Donnelly:

Johnse was not as large as most of his brothers but he was far more handsome than the rest and was the Casanova of the clan.

Per the Reverend Shirley Donnelly:

Johnse died of a heart attack as be rode along Twisted Gum Creek, a stream between Gilbert Creek and Ben Creek in Logan County.

Note: I have been unable to find a Twisted Gum Creek in current-day WV. I did find a Twisted Gun Gap near several unnamed creeks. This location is about 3.8 miles NNE of Wharncliffe, WV and generally fits Shirley Donnelly's description.
